Wellspring Peloton Challenge

Dr. Clifford participated in the 2018 Wellspring Peloton Challenge, an 8-day, 4000 km bicycle road relay from Toronto to Las Vegas!

Why on Earth would he do that? - In support of Wellspring Cancer Support Centers of course!

Wellspring provides needed services to patients diagnosed with cancer and their caregivers, all at absolutely no charge. The funds raised from this event go directly to support Wellspring's 40+ free programs.

As you may know, Dr. Clifford has a special interest in treating cancer patients, and is excited to be able to support the programs at Wellspring, which include many of the very things he recommends to his patients: healthy diet and exercise, stress reduction and group counselling.

Dr. Clifford has succeeded in raising over $10,000. As promised, he will be cutting his long flowing hair and donating it to the Canadian Cancer Society! The haircut will occur on Thursday, Dec 6th at 11:30 am at the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine; a video will be posted here and on social media shortly thereafter.

29 Jun 2018 - Critical Mass Brampton

Brampton Critcial Mass.png

Dr. Clifford rode once more in the monthly Brampton Critical Mass Bike Ride today. The goal is to promote awareness of the need for viable cycling infrastructure (bike lanes and pathways, etc.) for the City of Brampton. Currently, Brampton suffers from a lack of cycling infrastructure, and as a consequence, the people of the city are not comfortable cycling. Improving infrastructure will allow people to safely bike to work and run errands, reducing the number of cars on the roads, reduce our carbon emissions, improve health and wellness of the cyclists which then reduces the cost of healthcare... It's a win-win-win-win!

For more information, check out the Brampton Critical Mass website.

Critical Mass bike rides happen the last Friday of every month, even in the winter.

24 Mar 2018, 8:30 pm - Earth Hour

e have lots to talk about this year, and lots to celebrate at Raven Naturopathic Health Services, but it just wouldn't be the same without our commitment to the Earth... So we are once again celebrating Earth Hour!

For those who may not know, Earth Hour is a global event designed to bring awareness of climate change and to promote action to help reduce the damage humans are causing the Earth. This celebration includes a vigil in which all lights (and other electric appliances) are turned off for one hour (or more), starting at 8:30 pm, 24 March 2018. This symbolic act is intended to remind us just how much electricity we use, and to open our eyes to the need for clean energy sources.

Some of the steps we are taking at Raven Naturopathic to help reduce our footprint upon the planet involves boring procedure updates to reduce medical waste, but also includes switching to environmentally friendly hand soaps and disinfectants, energy efficient light bulbs, and printing our forms double-sided.

Please join us in celebrating Earth Hour, and in making changes to our daily lives that will help reduce our energy use and preserve Nature, not only for ourselves, but for all future generations.

For more information on Earth Hour, climate change, and what you can do to help, check out the official Earth Hour page.

29 December 2017 - Critical Mass Brampton

Join me (Dr. Clifford) at the Brampton Critical Mass Bike Ride tonight! We're meeting at Gage park in downtown Brampton at 6:15 pm, and leaving at 6:30 pm. I'm looking forward to a great ride, and I hope you'll join us!

For more information, check out the Brampton Critical Mass website.

--> UPDATE

A small but dedicated group rode the streets of downtown Brampton Friday night to promote bicycle safety, visibility and to present a valid option for reducing fuel emissions within the city! It was a short ride, but a good one. We met afterwards at a local coffee shop to discuss winter cycling and a new initiative, Brampton EcoAction.

Critical Mass bike rides happen the last Friday of every month, even in the winter! Join us!

29 Nov 2017 - CCNM Cup Trivia Competition

The CCNM Cup is a trivia competition held at the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine. It is based on the NMSA Cup, a North America-wide inter-collegiate competition for naturopathic medical students. Topics for the competition include medical and naturopathic topics, such as anatomy, physiology, botanical medicine and hydrotherapy (etc, etc).

As part of the kick-off to this year's CCNM Cup, Dr. Clifford has been invited to be part of a demonstration match pitting faculty against the student team who represented CCNM in the NMSA Cup this passed summer.

While there is nothing at stake except for bragging rights, the event promises to be action-packed and exciting (...or as exciting as a trivia competition *can* be!).

Please wish Dr. Clifford luck - since the student team has been studying for six months for this competition, he's going to need it!

Note: We will be open by appointment only with Dr. Salwan that day.

--> UPDATE: The Cup was a success, drawing the best and brightest of our students and giving them a taste of Naturopathic Trivia. Best of luck to all those who intend to try out for the 2018 Team!
